Design Inspiration: Dining Room
I knew when we moved into our house that the dining room had some great bones, but it was not my style. I have included a picture of what it looked like when we moved in below. I am not sure how much you can tell from the photo, but the top color was navy, and the bottom was a mint blue color.

I loved the dimension that the board and batten gave the room, but I was not a fan of the two-tone color situation. So, I decided to paint it a grey color. We decided to go with a Behr shade from Home Depot.
I ended up just painting the two accent walls, leaving the remaining two walls white. In hindsight, I wish that I painted all the walls, and still think I may go back and do that.

I was so excited to paint that I got jumpy and just on a whim went out and bought furniture for the room before really researching what I wanted. I ended up getting this live edge dining table and two swivel chairs from World Market. They looked great when I saw them in the store, but they aren’t really the classic pieces that I would choose now.
When I added the two swivel chairs, I noticed that it looks like a really tight fit. So, I am thinking about moving those chairs to the end of the table and getting some new chairs to replace them. I think I may wait to do that, so I can see what everything looks like first.
I have spent some time in the past two months really thinking about how I can make this room feel more like me, and as I was browsing Pinterest, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Yes, I know what you are thinking, how the heck are you going to do that? For me, I just want my dining room to overall give off this vibe. I am going to get rid of my current gold fixture and replace it with a white hanging lantern and do some sort-of plate gallery wall. I am still trying to figure out the color and design that I want for the plates. So, stay tuned for that.
I also have a bench in my dining room, and I have been thinking about getting some cushions made. I am thinking that would be a fun way to add some pattern to the room, as they have in the photo above. I LOVE gingham.
Another element I can add to the room that will elevate it is a hutch. I found one on Megan Stoke’s page that I am obsessed with, but I am not sure where to find it. So, if you know, please message me. Ahaha!
