Sold Our First House!

yay! we finally sold our first house after six months of prep. this has been such a long time coming. we knew from the start that we wouldn't live there forever, but we didn't know that we would be moving after just three years. with a wedding coming up and a new chapter starting, we decided it made sense to close our chapter in mid-michigan, especially since we love and frequently visit the east side. our first house was so cute, but it taught me so much about what i'm looking for in our next house!

my parents are the best for letting us live with them while we look for houses. the market is so crazy, and it feels like all the good ones are pending after the first day, but i have faith our house is out there. we are so picky about what we want because this next house is going to be more of a long-term situation (we hope). we want somewhere where we can bring home a baby and really dig roots down. i have made somewhat of a collection for the vibe we are looking for below; the overall essence is that i want something that feels homey and isn't super updated so i can put my own touch on it throughout the years!

as you can tell, i love dark wood. if i had to name my style, i would say it is traditional. in my previous house, we bought what i would call a “diy instagram house." it was super cute, but my style leans a little more classic and outdated. i gather a lot of my style from movies like home alone (all of them), father of the bride, this is where i leave you—any movie by nancy meyers or one that stars diane keaton—with a nineties aesthetic and a little ralph lauren sprinkled in here and there.

stay tuned while we are on the hunt!
